Position Overview:
The Biomedical Equipment Technician Assistant (BMET Assistant) works under the supervision of a BMET Coordinator or a Senior BMET II/III. The role involves supporting the installation, routine maintenance, and basic repair of electromechanical diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. The BMET Assistant ensures that all assigned tasks are performed in accordance with safety protocols, manufacturer specifications, and organizational standards to help maintain the reliability and functionality of medical equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all established BMET standards, competencies, and learning requirements as outlined for the BMET Assistant role.
- Participate in internal and external training sessions, courses, and seminars to build the skills necessary to function independently as a BMET I.
- Support oxygen production, monitoring, and distribution activities across all PIH-supported facilities in Maryland County.
- Assist with biomedical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and inventory management at PIH-supported facilities, including JJD Hospital, Pleebo Health Center, EWHC, and Boniken Clinic.
- Perform any other duties
Qualifications:
- University degree in Electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering.
- Certificate in Biomedical technology
- Entry-level experience servicing clinical/patient care equipment in a hospital, clinic, or service environment as an intern or contractor
- Hands on experience with electromechanical medical devices
- A background in electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering is an added advantage
- Basic computer knowledge plus
Physical and Behavioral considerations;
- Be willing to work long hours capable of lifting minimum 80kg dead weight
- Should not be color blind or have hearing problems
- Should have good hands and eyes coordination
- Be respectful to the patients and MOH representatives and maintains a good work relationship with other PIH coworkers.
- Be willing to work extra time in the context of health crisis or on supervisorโs request.
