Project Context and Scope
ย Venezuelaโs social, political, and economic crisis has triggered rapid mass migration. And the north region Brazil is among the main destination countries of this recent wave of migration. Since 2018 the main point of entry for Venezuelans into Brazil is in the northern region of Brazil. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Brazil is implementing various projects addressing the protection, assistance, and integration needs of migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable populations in Brazil. IOM recognizes the importance of accurate and timely information to foster adequate programming and ensure accountability to affected population, donors, and governments. In this context, different groups with specific needs such as children, women, indigenous peoples, people with mental health conditions and people with disabilities, are facing even more difficulties to access basic services and are exposed to more risks of exploitation, abuse, and violence. In light of this scenario, IOM continue supporting the extremely vulnerable refugees and migrants Venezuelans in Acre, especially those in risk of human trafficking, children and adolescents, and women and girls victims of gender-based violence. Under the overall supervision of IOM Brazil Chief of Mission, the overall supervision of the Programming Coordinator National Officer of Roraima and the direct supervision of State Coordinator of Acre and the Protection Coordinator in Boa Vista, Roraima, the consultant will be responsible for supporting IOM protection activities through the implementation of the activities below mentioned in the state of Acre.

ย GAC Project: IS0208 WBL: :1:1:001 Tasks to be performed under this contract ย The consultant will deliver the following tasks:ย ย a. Plan, organize and facilitate training sessions to the local protection network on the prevention of human trafficking, migrant smuggling, gender-based violence and child protection, as well as other cross-cutting protection themes. b. Provide technical inputs, draft information and referral mechanisms proposals on the above mentioned protection related themes.ย c. Plan, organize and review guidance materials on violence against women and girls, PSEAH (Preventing Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment), GBV, Child Protection, TiP (Trafficking in Persons), and other relevant themes, in partnership with internal and external partners. ย d. Support the planning, organization and facilitation of information sessions to public servants as well as to the migrant community.ย e. Support the planning and implementation of the activities of the Protection Unit according to project objectives, quality standards and needs, in line with IOMโs policies and procedures and donor requirements.ย f. Facilitate capacity building activities for local authorities, civil servants, service providers, civil society and stakeholders.ย g. Contribute to the monitoring of project progress, data collection and prepare relevant reports.ย h. Participate in meetings/working groups as indicated by the coordination. i. Undertake site visits and duty travel as required. j. Travel and DSA may be requested for the consultant. Travels to Rondonia will be required.
