Mission and objectivesThe United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is committed to helping Uzbekistan build a modern, prosperous, democratic society, based on responsive government systems, people prepared for future challenges and opportunities, and an inclusive green economy. UNDP first became active in Uzbekistan in 1993, and has over subsequent decades implemented hundreds of projects alongside the national government, business, civil society and academic. We are proud to be both Uzbekistanโs primary development partner and a leading member of the UN Family. Through the continued trust of the Government of Uzbekistan, close collaboration with our fellow UN agencies and the support of national and international donors, UNDP has helped build Uzbekistanโs market economy, modernize its government, and improve the lives of its most vulnerable citizens. In addition, UNDP has helped Uzbekistan tackle some of the most prominent ecological and environmental challenges it has faced over past years. The directions of UNDPโs work in Uzbekistan reflect the current UN Country Programme Document (CPD) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for 2021-2025. They also align with the national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the 2030 Agenda, and Uzbekistanโs Development Strategy for 2017-2021. Throughout 2020 UNDP helped address the national health and socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and is continuing to actively assist in Uzbekistanโs inclusive, green recovery.
ContextThe Tech Volunteers for Resilience (Tech4R) programme, co-led by the United Nations Development Programmeโs Istanbul International Centre for Private Sector in Development (UNDP ICPSD) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, mobilizes skilled digital volunteers to co-develop open-source solutions that strengthen resilience, recovery, and sustainable development. In collaboration with UNDP Uzbekistan under the GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP), Tech4R is supporting the improvement of the GEF SGP Uzbekistan multilingual website, which serves as a key national platform for environmental knowledge sharing and community outreach. Currently, the websiteโs three language versions โ Uzbek, Russian, and English โ lack full synchronization, resulting in inconsistent terminology, incomplete sections, and varying user experiences. These discrepancies limit the platformโs accessibility for local communities and project implementers. The Content Review & Translation Volunteers will align, proofread, and update multilingual content across the websiteโs language versions. Their work will ensure consistency, readability, and inclusiveness, supporting the effective dissemination of environmental and climate adaptation knowledge across Uzbekistanโs diverse linguistic communities.
Task DescriptionThe Volunteer with the team together will: โข Review and align website content across Uzbek, Russian, and English versions. โข Proofread and edit text to ensure accurate and consistent translation. โข Verify terminology and ensure coherence between language versions. โข Identify and fill missing sections or misaligned links across pages. โข Support the upload and organization of multimedia materials, including photos, articles, and project results. โข Collaborate with web editors and the accessibility team to ensure that all language versions meet usability and inclusivity standards. This is an unpaid volunteer assignment.
