5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Mission and objectivesUNDPโ€™s Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPP) derives its mandate from the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 33/147 of 20 December 1978. Called upon by United Nations Member States in that year, UNDP was requested โ€œto improve the economic and social conditions of the Palestinian people by identifying their social and economic needs and by establishing concrete projects to that endโ€. UNDP/PAPP is a responsive development agency that works together with the Palestinian people to fulfil their aspiration for sustainable human development based on self-determination, equality and freedom.

ContextUNDP works to eradicate poverty and reduce inequalities through sustainable development. This opportunity is part of the โ€œSupport to Education Sector in East Jerusalem โ€“ Phase II / Education to Employment (E2E)โ€ project, funded by the Government of Norway. The project aims to improve access to quality education by enhancing the learning environment, strengthening institutional capacity, and expanding Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) offerings across 52 schools in East Jerusalem. The project also promotes inclusive after-school and psychosocial interventions and introduces community learning centers to help students overcome educational challenges. It contributes to the broader impact of improving the socio-economic resilience of Palestinians in East Jerusalem and supports the outcome of integrating East Jerusalem schools into the Palestinian national education system. Within this framework, architecture and urban design will support the design and implementation of community-oriented, environmentally sustainable, and innovative built environment projects. This will contribute technical input and creative insight toward project planning, landscape and public space interventions, school infrastructure design, and urban resilience initiatives aligned with the projectโ€™s goals. The project outputs are as follows: โ€ข Output 1: Improved learning environment for Palestinian children and youth in East Jerusalem and expanded TVET offerings. โ€ข Output 2: Enhanced institutional capacity of JDoE to provide quality education. โ€ข Output 3: Institutionalized TVET Systems and Services. The target group will be Palestinian children in East Jerusalem.
