Work LocationETC Amman Expected duration6 Months Duties and ResponsibilitiesOne of five regional commissions of the United Nations Secretariat, the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) forms part of the United Nations Secretariat and, like the other regional commissions, operates under the supervision of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. ESCWA comprises 21 Arab countries in Western Asia and North Africa. ESCWA provides a framework for the formulation and harmonization of sectoral policies for member countries, a platform for congress and coordination, a home for expertise and knowledge, and an information observatory. ESCWA activities are coordinated with the divisions and main offices of the Headquarters of the United Nations, specialized agencies, and international and regional organizations, including the League of Arab States and its subsidiary bodies, and the Gulf Cooperation Council. The ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) is implementing a regional training program on green technologies and sustainable business models across the Arab region. As part of this initiative, ETC aims to develop accessible training materials to support entrepreneurs and SMEs in adopting environmentally friendly technologies and practices. To support the successful delivery and outreach of the program, the individual contractor will ensure the safe and efficient transportation of personnel and materials. This logistical support is critical to facilitating training activities and regional engagement. Duties and Responsibilities: โข Drive office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery/collection of mail, documents, and other items. โข Ensure daily maintenance of the assigned vehicle, including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, and vehicle cleanliness. โข Maintain the vehicle logbook and ensure proper documentation of all trips. โข Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents. โข Ensure availability of all required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, registration, logs, and first aid kit. โข Assist with logistical arrangements for meetings, workshops, and field missions. โข Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications/special skillsA valid driverโs license and a clean driving history is required. A minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience is required. Knowledge of local roads, traffic regulations and basic vehicle maintenance skills is required. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in Arabic is required.
