Org. Setting and ReportingThis position is located in administrative unit in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Sudan Country Office, located in Nairobi. The incumbent reports to the supervisor of the unit. ResponsibilitiesWithin limits of delegated authority and depending on location, a Driver at this level may be responsible for the following duties: โข Drives vehicles safely for the transport of authorised personnel. โข Collects and delivers mail, documents, and other items. โข Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities as required. โข Takes care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc. โข Performs minor repairs, arranges for other repairs, and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean. โข Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc. โข Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident. โข Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning, and decision making. โข Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. โข Performs other duties as assigned. EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent. Job - Specific QualificationDriver training with a valid category B and C driverโs license is required. Work ExperienceA minimum of one (1) year of experience as a driver providing driving services with a safe diving record is required. Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans and other kinds of motorised vehicles is required. Experience working as a professional driver with an international organization such as the United Nations or similar is required. Experience in the maintenance of vehicles is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. Kiswahili is desirable.
