Under the general supervision of the Preparedness and Response Unit Coordinator, Programme Manager (WASH) and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate (WASH), in close coordination with the Head of Sub-office, the incumbent will be responsible for implementing water supply, sanitation, and hygiene promotion activities in the Metema area of responsibility (AOR). This includes water quality monitoring, distribution of NFIs/goods, overseeing ongoing activities, stakeholder and community mobilization, and reporting, all in alignment with the organization's plans and needs.
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of hygiene promotion and community engagement activities.
- Support administrative coordination for project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units or external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process, and follow-up on administrative actions.ย
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.ย
- Support the organization of meetings, workshops and training sessions with WASH partners, hygiene promotion volunteers, Government counterparts etc.ย
- Assist in drafting status reports, correspondence, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations, and other forms of documentation.
- Support assessments and compilation of data on multiple platforms using different tools.
- Participate in meetings and conferences; assist in coordinating implementation.ย
- activities with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors, and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Education
- Bachelors in public health, Nursing, Environmental Engineering, Water and Sanitation or a related field from an accredited academic institution with one year of relevant professional experience; or
- Diploma degree in the above fields with three years of relevant professional experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
โข ย ย ย ย Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.
Skills
โข ย ย ย ย Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
โข ย ย ย ย Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.ย
ยโข ย ย ย ย In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and,
Languages
โข ย ย ย ย Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
โข ย ย ย ย Knowledge of financial rules and regulations.
โข ย ย ย ย Vast knowledge in PHAST, CLTS, CHAST and other relevant methods etc.
โข ย ย ย ย Experience in event management such water day, toilet day, environment day etc.
โข ย ย ย ย Experienced in WASH infrastructure development in an emergency context.
ย- Fluency in English (oral and written).
- Working knowledge of Amharic and Oromia IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish.
