Mission and objectivesIstanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) supports the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitation of public-private dialogue and brokering partnerships. IICPSD, established in 2011 in partnership with the Government of Türkiye, is one of UNDP's six Global Policy Centres. It leads UNDP’s global work on private sector and foundations and supports UNDP’s offices all over the world. The Center focuses on four thematic areas: 1. Inclusive Business; 2. Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development; 3. Impact investing; 4. Resilience and Crisis Response. The Center also hosts four global initiatives: Business Call to Action, SDG Philanthropy Platform, Global Islamic Finance and Impact Investing Platform and Connecting Business Initiative.
ContextUNDP ICPSD’s SDG AI Lab and UN Technology Bank for LDCs (UNTB) established the Frontier Tech Leaders (FTL) Programme to bridge the digital divide and contribute to the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2023 the Programme was officially launched as a global multistakeholder initiative during the 5th UN Conference on the LDCs in Doha, Qatar. The Frontier Tech Leaders Programme will raise a new generation of tech specialists to strengthen local capacities and develop digital solutions for the LDCs towards achieving the SDGs. The Programme envisions a world where all LDCs have capacities to address development challenges using frontier technologies. The FTL Programme also supports the career development of the young tech leaders benefiting from the Programme. The Programme provides 1-1 review sessions on Linkedin profiles and CVs, mock interview, career mentorship and other supporting activities. The FTL Career Support Volunteer is expected to support this dimension by providing administrative and logistical support to the Programme team and the career development expert assigned for this Programme. Under this mandate, the volunteer is expected to: - Identify the job, internship and other relevant opportunities for the beneficiaries and disseminating them through FTL Linkedin Community Network Group and other relevant means in collaboration with Programme team and the career support development expert. - Schedule the meetings with the beneficiaries and career support development expert for the 1-1 CV & Linkedin profile reviews, mock interview sessions, career mentor matchmaking and inspirational speakers events. - Draft necessary communication materials (e-mails, text messages, Linkedin group messages etc.). - Organize community development activities among the beneficiaries. - Other ad-hoc administrative and logistical support in case of urgency.
Task DescriptionThe volunteer is expected to support the FTL Programme team in supporting the career development component. These tasks involve communicating with the Programme beneficiaries and sharing them with the job opportunities and arranging the virtual meetings and events with the beneficiaries and career support expert. The volunteer might be also expected to support the career support expert by joining the meetings, events and providing translation and logistics support.
