Mission and objectivesUNFPAโs global mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is healthy and wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA expands the possibilities for women and young people to lead healthy and productive lives. UNFPA has been operating in Tรผrkiye since 1971, currently running its 6th Country Programme in more than 20 provinces. Delivery of accessible and rights-based reproductive health and youth-friendly services particularly targeting vulnerable groups, prevention of child, early and forced marriage, promotion of gender equality, prevention of gender-based violence, in-depth analysis of population dynamics are the main aims of UNFPA 6th Country Programme (2016-2020) and 7th Country Programme (2021-2025). UNFPA works with governments, universities, CSOs and the private sector to support data collection, service delivery, capacity enhancement-trainings, and policy/legislation design. Under the UNFPA Development Programme, two projects regarding prevention of child, early and forced marriage (CEFM) have been implemented.
ContextThe UNFPA Eastern Europe and Central Asia Regional Office (EECARO) provides strategic support to 16 country offices in advancing gender equality and empowering women and girls. The regional gender team works to strengthen gender-transformative programming, share knowledge, and promote collaboration across the region. To support these efforts, the Online Volunteer will contribute to enhancing knowledge management and communication within the regional gender network. By developing engaging newsletters and concise knowledge products, the volunteer will play a key role in highlighting good practices, promoting new tools, and facilitating information exchange among gender focal points in country offices. This assignment will help ensure that innovative and effective gender interventions are documented, shared, and replicated across the region.
Task DescriptionThe knowledge management Online Volunteer will support the regional gender team to more effectively collect and share information and knowledge across the 16 country offices in the EECA region. Specific tasks will include: 1) The development of a bi-monthly newsletter highlighting new tools and guidance developed within the region for gender programming, good practices from programmes and sharing relevant gender resources. The newsletter will be developed in collaboration with the regional gender team and with inputs from gender focal points in country offices. 2) The development of 5 one-pagers describing key replicable interventions, research and tools related to the interventions, and key results. The topic of these one-pagers will be decided in collaboration with the regional gender team and based on the discussions in the gender focal points meetings. Inclusivity: This position is open to candidates with disabilities. A non-ableist work approach is essential, and experience in inclusive communication and accessibility practices is considered a strong asset. Familiarity with accessibility features and tools is also an advantage.
