Main Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Section Chief and the Chief Interpreter, the incumbent is responsible for the timely delivery of project coordination activities related to the provision of interpretation services. Processes time-sensitive requests for all Fund interpretation services. Makes logistical and administrative arrangements covering all aspects of interpretation assignments (whether in-person, hybrid or remote), determining applicable cost-effective procedures for each individual request including the most complex ones (e.g. multi-city missions, multilingual events, mixed teams of interpreters domiciled in different countries, etc.). Ensures that all interpretation requests properly reflect usersโ€™ needs and comply with existing rules and procedures. Acts as liaison with requestors of interpretation services, mission chiefs, Resident Representatives, technical assistance experts, HRD, FIN, and interpreters. Assists the Chief Interpreter in the process of selecting suitable and available interpreters from the worldwide roster, offering assignments to contractual interpreters through oral and written communications in multiple languages. Prepares letters of agreement, cost estimates, payment requests and receipts. With great attention to detail, proofreads correspondence, contracts, receipts and cost estimates for more junior co-workers. Provides support to the Chief Interpreterโ€™s Office and/or the Text Collection operation during the Spring and Annual Meetings. Assists the Chief Interpreter in contract administration of interpreters recruited on long-term assignments for technical assistance experts. Coordinates logistical support to Interpretation Services recruitment campaigns. Is responsible for entering, maintaining, and managing data in the Interpretation Office System and Scheduler (IOS) database pertaining to personnel records of contractual interpreters worldwide. Is responsible for maintaining and deploying portable simultaneous interpretation equipment and for providing relevant training to contractual technicians and interpreters on the deployment, usage and troubleshooting of such equipment.

Qualifications and Experience

In addition to the qualifications set forth in the job standards, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of a university degree, or equivalent, in Translation, Linguistics, Economics, or a related field, is required.
