5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Mission and objectivesYouth Co:Lab positions young people front and center in order to solve the regionโ€™s most pressing challenges. Co-created in 2017 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Citi Foundation, Youth Co:Lab aims to establish a common agenda for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to empower and invest in youth so that they can accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship.

ContextThe Movers Programme is a movement of volunteers who develop SDGs awareness, entrepreneurial mindsets and 21st-century skills by conducting localized training at a grassroots level. The Movers Programme uses a training-of- trainer approach and works with community partners to target harder-to-reach groups and support the objective of the Youth Empowerment Portfolio in Asia and the Pacific to leave no youth behind. The lesson learned by Movers in reaching and supporting young changemakers from the most underserved communities is that the conventional approach to empowering themโ€”which includes leadership training, community building, networking, and access to resources and fundingโ€”needs to be customized to effectively engage these young changemakers. The barriers they face in education related to leadership, SDGs, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and digital skills are not accessible to young changemakers from marginalized communities. Additionally, a lack of support networks and representation hinders their potential to become effective leaders.

Task DescriptionTo that end, we are seeking Online Volunteers to support with the following tasks: - Develop a plan for a 2-week online dialogue, including engaging questions, and a clear schedule. - Suggest diverse activities and prompts to encourage members to learn, share, and exchange information within the WhatsApp group. - Actively facilitate and monitor the group, responding to comments, asking follow-up questions, and gently steering conversations to maintain focus and relevance.
