Work LocationThis internship is based in Geneva on a full-time basis, and the internship modality is in-person or remote. The specific modalities may be discussed and mutually agreed upon by the managers and the selected candidate(s). Expected durationFull-time (40 hours per week) for 3-6 months, with desired start date of February 2026. Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe internship is located in the Collection, Analysis and Sharing Section (CASS) within the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM), Geneva, Switzerland. The intern will work under the supervision of a Legal Officer, Investigator or Analyst within CASS. Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with the Legal Officers, Investigators and Analysts in CASS. The duties of interns may include, but are not limited to, conducting legal research and preparing analyses on issues relating to international and national criminal law, international human rights law and/or public international law; conducting research on factual and policy issues; contributing to the preparation of briefing papers, reports and/or public information materials; assisting in the compilation and review of information, documentation and evidence; proof-reading and editing documents; and drafting meeting records. Interns may be engaging with and be exposed to materials with violent imagery and distressing subject matters. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent). Applicants must be enrolled in the final year of a first university degree (Bachelorโ€™s or equivalent), or in an advanced university degree (Masterโ€™s, or PhD Programme or equivalent), or must have completed a university degree maximum one year before the date of their application. However, they are required to have undertaken studies in international criminal, humanitarian or human rights law or related areas. Please elaborate on the courses you have taken.
