ย Context
Under the overall supervision of the Protection Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Protection Officer, the Livelihoods Associate will be responsible for implementing livelihoods activities at IOMโs protection and transit centers in Algiers.ย
- Implement all livelihoods, education, and social cohesion activities with return beneficiaries at IOMโs protection and transit center.ย
- Conduct assessments including labor market assessments in Algeria and countries of return and supply chain mapping, under the guidance of the Protection Officer.
- Conduct mapping of service providers for vocational training, on-job-training, job placement, soft skills, educational activities.
- Identify and coordinate with potential private companies for the implementation of job placements, and on the job training.ย
- ย Support appropriate selection of project beneficiaries by supporting outreach, registration, verification, skill mapping, CV writing, and supporting applicants to draft business and expansion plan.ย
- Support beneficiaries by facilitating orientation meetings, business trainings, and/or one to-one counseling sessions as necessary and support them in the formulation of their business plans.
- Monitor the progress through weekly checks with beneficiaries and vendors/ implementing partners.ย
- Monitor impact of activities
- Organize and conduct satisfaction and feedback surveys in order to improve future livelihoods projects.ย
- In coordination with the Team Leader, coordinate with the relevant government authorities, business associations and private sector companies to implement IOMโs livelihoods projects.
- Monitor targets and achievements in accordance with different projects and work plans and report progress to the Protection Coordinator. ย
- Coordinate with caseworkers and Information Management (IM) unit to maintain up-to-date and accurate beneficiary data in the IOM Portal.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by supervisor. Education
- University degree in social sciences, economics, or business management from an accredited academic university or instituteย with 5 years of relevant professional experience.ย Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Relevant experience in social projects/community stabilization though a gender point.ย
- Experience with international organization is an advantage.
- Strong experience working with migrants in humanitarian contexts. Skills

- Fluency in English is required.ย
- Fluency in Arabic and French is desirable. IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish.
