UNOPS is undertaking a project that aims to support Labor-intensive Maintenance in Public Areas that focuses on improving the access to quality education with equitable employment opportunities, using the Cash for Work modality (CfW) for both Jordanians and Syrian refugees.
The project entails the provision of maintenance works in selected public schools across six governorates in Jordan. This project will not only address the short-term needs in maintenance across the Jordanian Education Sector, but also support the Ministry of Education in Jordan in developing a sustainable school maintenance mechanism.
Functional Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Director of the Amman Operational Hub and the Head of Programme, and under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Monitoring and Reporting Officer will be required to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
Project Monitoring:
Building a report for the donor on a monthly and semi-annual basis in collaboration with the partnership team Ensure that performance indicators and targets remain relevant and in accordance with the project design and workplan; Analyze and prepare evidence-based monitoring reports during and upon the completion of project; Undertake regular monitoring visits to the project sites independently or together with the Project Manager and the Project Team; Review, maintain and monitor the project risk register on regular basis and flag any high risks that may have a potential negative impact on the project to the Project Manager; Draft TORs for the project evaluation; Propose possibilities for further impact monitoring; Perform any other duties as request by the Project Manager.Project Reporting
Prepare progress and monthly highlight reports in coordination with the project team, the Programme and Partnership teams; Ensure timely and quality submission of reports as identified in the project agreement through coordinating inputs and drafting reports related to project activities; Act as a focal point for the collection, analysis and dissemination of data/information relevant to verification, monitoring and inspection activities in coordination with the Database Officer.Knowledge Management & Networking
Interact and follow up with the Project Manager and the project teams to solicit case studies, lessons learned, success stories, and best practices for internal and external sharing; Lead the preparation of success stories and best M&E practices for inclusion in internal and external communication products; Contribute to the project planning processes in terms of sharing lessons, best practices and/ or success stories derived as part of the project monitoring. Education:
A first level university degree (Bachelor degree) in project management, development policy and/ or planning, business administration, international development/relations or any relevant discipline
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in programme/project monitoring, evaluation and reporting in either national or international organizations is required. Experience in producing evidence-based monitoring reports is required. Experience in setting up and managing project monitoring and evaluation system is required. Demonstrated experience in application of innovative technologies in monitoring and tracking is highly desirable. Experience in the humanitarian and/or development sector is required. Experience in the Middle East is desirable. Experience in cash for work projects is desirable. Experience with an international organization and/or UN agencies is desirable. Computer literacy in particular MS Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint is highly desirable.
Language:
Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic is required.

For staff positions only, UNOPS reserves the right to appoint a candidate at a lower level than the advertised level of the post.
For retainer contracts, you must complete a few mandatory courses ( they take around 4 hours to complete) in your own time, before providing services to UNOPS. Refreshers or new mandatory courses may be required during your contract. Please note that you will not receive any compensation for taking courses and refreshers.
