Mission and objectivesThe UN Secretariat Department of Operational Support (DOS) is a global operational support provider with a mission of supporting clients across the 239 UN Secretariat entities and other partners fulfill their mandates by providing solutions that are effective, efficient, and responsible. Subsequently, within DOS sits the Division for Special Activities (DSA), which offers specialized cross-cutting capacity working across special situations, operational support partnerships with non-Secretariat entities and improvement of service delivery. The Improving Service Delivery (ISD) Section falls under the DOS-DSA described above and maintains a vision for improving service delivery through the development of the Secretariatโ€™s global operational support architecture as set out in the Secretary-Generalโ€™s report A/78/391.

ContextThe assignment will support the harmonization of key functions within the Executive Office in UNHQ. The process maps to be developed by the Online Volunteer will provide clarity and serve as input to streamlining processes and enhancing organizational effectiveness. The work will contribute to improved service delivery and support the achievement of relevant SDGs.

Task DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Online Volunteer who, under the supervision of the Programme Management Officer, will support the mapping and documentation of processes under the Executive Office in UN Secretariat HQ. The volunteer will focus on mapping workflows following the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) best practices. At least one of the following functions may be prioritized for workflow mapping - Talent Sourcing, Staff Administration, Affiliated Personnel, and Travel (HR). The Online Volunteer is specifically asked to: - Develop a BPMN-compliant template for process mapping - Review process-specific documentation and map given information using BPMN standards - Present detailed process maps and insights
