ย The Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old.
ย In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who:
ย a) have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities; b) are holding a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations and/or for whom internship is required to complete their studies; or c) are sponsored by governmental/non governmental institutions and/or academia to work in specific areas relevant to both IOM and the sponsor. d) are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelorโs level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months. e) are between 20 and 36 years of age.
ย Background Information
Under the overall supervision of the Director, Coordinating Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta and Representative to the Holy See, and the direct supervision of the Head Programme and Policy Support Unit, the intern will assist in providing support to the Programme & Policy Support Unit, in accordance with the IOM policy and procedures. - Assist in preparing presentations, preparation of briefs, fact sheets and other materials;
- Assist inย conducting background research and data collection on identified issues to inform programme development;ย
- Assist in the review and translation of programme documents, including concept notes and project proposals;
- Keep up to date databases relevant to project development, donor reporting, partnerships and other as needed;
- Provide assistance in the organization of meetings, trainings and events;ย
- Assist in the timely elaboration of minutes following internal and external meetings;ย
- Observe and support coordination efforts with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders;
- Assist in other Programme & Policy Support activities as required. Education
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelorโs level or equivalent);ย
or
- Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);ย
or
- Have graduated with one of the above university degrees and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation. ย Experience
- Assisted in basic administrative tasks such as document filing, data entry, and email correspondence.
- Supported team members in organizing internal meetings and preparing meeting minutes.
- Supported team members in events organization at substance and logistical level.
- Participated in research and data collection activities related to project implementation.
- Previous experience in the field of migration would be considered an advantage. ย Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem-solving attitude and willingness to learn quickly.
- Attention to detail and ability to work accurately with data and documents.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). ย Languages
- Fluency in Italian and English in required (oral and written). Knowledge of French would be an advantage. IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish.
