Background

The UNV Field Unit is mainly accountable for the mobilization and placement of UN Volunteers in UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes in Colombia, focused on peace, development and humanitarian needs. The UNV Field Unit represents and positions UNV in the country and brings UNVโ€™s services and solutions closer to its partners from governments, UN entities, civil society and private sector.ย ย 

Duties and Responsibilities

Support partnerships building and promotion of volunteerism within the UN Systemย  ย ย 

Support the Programme Specialist in maintaining and strengthening relationships with UN partners in the country, when required,ย  Support data, evidence, and best practices collection on UNVโ€™s programme, impact and consistency with UNV Strategic Framework outcomes, for use in partnership meetings, mobilization negotiations and external presentations;ย  In collaboration with RO teams (Communications, RBM) provide support in the design and preparation of substantive and partner specific outreach materials (fact sheets, best practice examples, mobilization proposals, presentations, value added of UN Volunteers, etc.) to bolster mobilization efforts.

Support UNV brand awareness and volunteer value propositionย ย 

In close coordination with the RO communications team, prepare, disseminate and present country-specific promotional information on the mandate and work of UNV with relevant stakeholders groups and UN client agencies;ย  Coordinate and develop diverse, up-to-date communication materials for a wide range of audiences, including UN partners, UN Volunteers, candidates, sourcing partners, etc, based on corporate, regional and Field Unit priorities;ย  Under the guidance of the Programme Specialist, coordinate activities and plan events, in collaboration with other UN agencies, for annual, national and UN-recognized international celebrations, including the International Volunteer Day (IVD); ย  Edit and publish digital content, effectively conveying key messages to target audiences via web, social media platforms, and other spaces where UNV has a presence, focusing on mobilization and talent outreach;ย  In collaboration with the Programme Specialist and RO Communications team, assist in shapingย  UNV's presence on multiple social media platforms at the country level, including working alongside the United Nations Communications Group (UNCG), to ensure the greatest impact for UNVโ€™s campaigns;ย  Oversee content for social media platforms in the country, monitor interactions and track analytics;ย  Develop, seek feedback on, and implement content plans to increase audience engagement in social media, and build community;ย  Work closely with the RO communications team to ensure cohesive content production and development of communication products;ย  Uphold UNV brand standards and ensure that communication strategies are duly implemented in alignment with the corporate ONE-UNV Brand project, enhancing brandย  visibility across all graphic, audiovisual, and editorial materials, both online and in print;ย  Work with UN agencies, talent partners, and other stakeholders at the country level to publish UNVโ€™s communication products and promote joint campaigns that enhance outreach and mobilization impact.ย 

Support talent outreach and volunteer engagement ย 

In coordination with the Operations Analyst, Regional Talent Acquisition, identify, develop and maintain partnerships with diverse sourcing entities (civil society organizations, NGOs, academia, alumni networks, job boards, etc.) to ensure a wide pool of volunteer candidates, aligned with evolving client agency demands;ย  Coordinate with the Operations Analyst, Regional Talent Acquisition, to collaborate with staffing entities specializing in diversity placements and identify talent outreach priorities for the country based on volunteer demand analysis and mobilization forecast;ย  Assist in establishing and nurturing collaboration with sourcing partners through events like webinars, workshops, and personalized outreach, including mailings, testimonials, and success stories to boost engagement;ย  Assist in identify existing obstacles to local and national outreach and registration processes with recommendations on how to best address them to ensure a wide and representative and diverse talent base;ย  Utilize diverse media channels (social and local media outlets) to promote UN Volunteering opportunities and participate in recruiting events, conferences, and summits focused on diversity and inclusion;ย  Identify volunteer mentors / ambassadors to promote mentorship initiatives connecting potential candidates to volunteering opportunities;ย  In coordination with the Operations Analyst, Regional Talent Acquisition, develop, implement and monitor country-level outreach campaigns and other talent sourcing methods, as per the UNV talent acquisition plan, aimed at generating a consistent, diverse flow of applications in line with regional volunteer mobilization targets, including specific volunteer demographics (persons with disabilities, refugees, ethnic and indigenous minorities, young people, etc.) or unique occupational profiles;ย  Analyze outreach-related data and use data analytics to support the refining of sourcing strategies.ย  Adjust sourcing techniques based on diversity hiring trends and feedback from satisfaction surveys with both UN partners and volunteers.

Institutional Arrangement

Reporting to the Programme Specialist, UNV Field Unit, the Programme Associate, Mobilization and Partnerships plays a crucial role in the effective mobilization of UN Volunteers by providing comprehensive administrative and operational assistance, alongside supporting strategic advocacy and programmatic coordination to strengthen partnerships. She/he is integral to increasing volunteer engagement, in line with UNVโ€™s Strategic Framework, ensuring responsiveness to the evolving demand of UN partners in the country.ย ย 

The Programme Associate, Mobilization and Partnerships is also responsible for providing support to actively build and nurture relationships with UN entities, UN Volunteers, and other key stakeholders to enhance UNV impact for the UN System. Additionally, she/he contributes to the implementation of Special Programme Initiatives, fostering the development of synergies and strategic relationships, and collaborating with local stakeholders to enhance joint advocacy and visibility efforts.ย

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

Secondary education with technical training in administration, business administration, communications or related areas is required.ย  University degree in social sciences, business, communications, or related areas is desirable but is not a requirement.ย 

Experience:

A minimum of 6 years (with high school diploma) or 3 years (with bachelorโ€™s degree) of relevant progressively responsible experience in communications, talent acquisition or development programmes is required.ย ย 

Requiredย skills:

Experience in MS Office 365 is required;ย ย  Experience in corporate communications, and developing and implementing communication campaigns is required.ย 

Desired skills:

Experience in using digital marketing tools (e.g. LinkedIn, mailing campaigns, etc.) to engage with a broad range of stakeholders is highly desirable;ย  Experience in data analysis and reporting is an asset;ย  Experience in outreach campaigns to attract talent, including crafting compelling messaging, using social media platforms, and leveraging content strategies to engage prospective candidates, is an asset;ย  ย  Experience working with Salesforce Service Cloud would be an asset;ย ย  Experience in an international or non-profit context would be an asset;ย ย  Experience working with volunteers would be an asset.
