ย Context Under the overall supervision of the Head of Programs (HoP) in Lebanon and direct supervision of the National Project Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for carrying out a range of technical, administrative, and operational tasks, to support in the development, implementation and monitoring of projects under the Public health Unit (PHU), ensuring timely and effective delivery that is consistent with IOM rules and regulations.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of PHU projectsโ activities. ย
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics.
- Monitor budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.ย
- Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
- Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest remedial actions.
- Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentation and other forms of documentation.ย
- Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records; organize meetings, workshops and training sessions;ย
- Participate in meetings and conferences; assist in coordinating implementation activities withย local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.ย
- Assist in monitoring work of implementing partners through field visits and report non-compliances to the supervisor.
- Provides guidance/training to new/junior staff.ย
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Education
- School diploma with five years of relevant experienceย in public health or humanitarian programs,ย including experience in communicable diseases (such as TB, HIV), mental health and telehealth; or,
- Bachelorโs degree in public health, nursing or any other health-related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience in public health and programs addressing communicable diseases (such as TB and HIV), mental health, and telehealth.ย Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.ย Skills
- In depth knowledge of project implementation, monitoring, and reporting within public health field; and,
- Familiarity with coordination mechanisms involving governmental authorities, UN agencies, and NGOs
- Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
- Knowledge of financial rules and regulations. Languages
- For this position, fluency in English and Arabic are required (oral and written).
