Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Under the overall supervision of the IOM Tunisia Chief of Mission and of the Project Manager and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate, the successful candidate will support with the implementation, monitoring and reporting of the migration and health activities.

In particular he/she will: 

  1. Contribute to the implementation of the projects in the area of migration and health, with a particular focus on Health and Mental Health and Psychosocial Well-Being (MHPSS) project activities, in compliance with IOM policies and standards, as well as donor requirements.
  2. Support with extracting data from IOM database in the area of migration and health and Migrant Management & Operational System (Mimosa) to fill matrices to the donors, in line with project requirements and indicators. Timely provide data for reporting.
  3. Support with maintaining partnerships between IOM Tunisia and relevant Government entities, other UN agencies and civil society partners and contribute to maintain new partnership that can contribute to successful project implementation, in particular in the area of Health.
  4. Support with the logistical, administrative and technical aspects of the organization of workshops, trainings, and the provision of technical assistance to Government and non-government partners to enhance their capacities in the health thematic area, including mental health and draft related activities reports.
  5. Organize key events and meetings relevant to the thematic area, such as the technical meetings, project steering committee meetings, etc. Ensure notetaking and reporting for relevant colleagues and partners.
  6. Compile and organize documents and tools on migration and health and keep abreast with latest developments.
  7. Contribute to updating and monitoring the health projects work plan to facilitate timely implementation and achievements of program activities and results.
  8. Draft reports related to the health projects in line with donor requirements and IOM standards and procedures, hence contributing to timely submission to the donor.
  9. Support with the production of regular briefings, summaries, press releases, visibility materials and other relevant information materials on project activities, when required.
  10. Maintain accurate observance of administrative rules, regulations and procedures within the framework of the health projects and in line with IOM guidelines;
  11. Fulfill internal procurement and other administrative formalities including the draft/printing/sending of official letters and other relevant documents in order to provide support to the health projects activities; 
  12. Perform such other duties as may be assigned. 

    EDUCATION

    • University degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Medecine, Nursery, Human Rights or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience or
    • High school degree in the above fields with five years of relevant professional experience.

      EXPERIENCE

      • Experience in the field of assistance to migrants and / or humanitarian and Health activities targeting vulnerable individuals.
      • Experience with governmental authorities, the UN and / or other national/international institutions.
      • Excellent knowleges of the national health system organization and strucres. 
      • Experience in working with non-governmental organizations.
      • Experience in working on project implementation.
      • Knowledge of Tunisia and regional issues in the thematic area of migration is a distinct advantage.

        SKILLS

        • Good drafting skills and clear oral communication.
        • Strong knowledge of computer applications, especially MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.
        • Experience in working in public health system is a plus. 
        • Strong organizational skills
        • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within different cultural environments.
        • Ability to work within a team structure or in isolation, flexible, and can cope with stressful workloads and working with limited resources.
        • Ability to travel on short notice to project sites among others.
