Organizational Context and Scope
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Thailand implements a range of national and regional projects aimed at addressing migration challenges and delivering increased protection and assistance to vulnerable migrants in partnership with government, civil society, and private sector counterparts.ย
Through the Immigration Border Governance, Counter Trafficking and Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration programming, IOM Thailand implements national and regional projects aimed at addressing migration challenges and delivering assistance and enhancing the protection of vulnerable migrants in partnership with government, civil society, and private sector counterparts. IOM is implementing projects that provides protection support to the vulnerable migrants and victims ofย trafficking, policy strengthening and capacity building program as well as strengthen partnership and community engagements.ย
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Program Manager, and in coordination with the Policy and Programme Support Coordinator, the Project Officer will provide technical and administrative support to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Thailand in advancing migration policies, streamline protection approaches and enhance protection services of vulnerable migrants and victims of trafficking in Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar and Cambodia.
In close coordination with the Program Manager, support the day-to-day implementation of unitโs programme activities, including monitoring of budgets, progress against targets, and timely implementation of activities.Support development and implementation of information and knowledge management processes for the IBG/CT/AVRR Unit by providing technical inputs and administrative guidance.ย Liaise with the Migration Data and Research Unit (MDRU) for the data consolidation, creation of maps, reports, dashboards, analysis, and production of other IM products.Draft regular, high quality programme updates, external reports, factsheets, case studies, project briefs and success stories as required, and ensure timely dissemination of products.Ensure that projects are accurately reflected in PRIMA at all stages of the projects cycle.ย Provide technical inputs and information to support the Program Manager in developing new projects in close coordination with the Policy and Programme Support Unit (PPSU).Draft timely and quality submissions of project reports in close coordination with the PPSU.ย In close coordination with M&E Officer, participate in the regular monitoring of the projectsโ activities, results, budget, expenditures and risks, recommend corrective action as required and implement them in a timely manner. Contribute to the development of monitoring tools and help strengthen risk management and accountability mechanisms.ย Support the IBG/CT/AVRR unit and relevant units in organizing inter โ agency meeting, sustaining coordination platforms and/or collective action with relevant regional, national, and local stakeholders, including governmental actors, UN agencies, non โ government organizations and local representatives to respond to the needs of vulnerable migrants, stateless, victims of trafficking, and special at-risk groups.ย Support the Program Manager in coordinating with other IOM Offices to facilitate the effective implementation of regional projects.ย Support and organize project briefings on a regular basis and provide information on programme matters and on regional current affairs that may have an impact on the work of IOM.ย Undertake duty travels to support project activities and augment work force at the field level as maybe needed.ย Perform such other duties as may be assigned.Education
Masterโs degree inย in Development, Political or Social Sciences, Law, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or,University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.ยExperience
Experience working in the development and humanitarian fields;ย Experience in migration and development is highly desirable;Experience in data collection and analysis as well as knowledge management is highly desirable; and,Experience working with Government counterparts, UN agencies and/or non-governmental organizations is considered an asset.Skills
In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization;Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming;Ability to holistically analyze diverse datasets; and,Demonstrated understanding of different data collection methodologies.Languages
IOMโs official languages are English, French and Spanish.ย
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, and Spanish) and/or Thai is an advantage.
