Project Context and Scope

Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Head of Protection, the Junior Protection Analyst โ€“ Research, and Advocacy supports the Protection Division (PxD) in donor reporting, analysis and advocacy of programmatic interventions in Iraq.ย 

The scope of this consultancy relates to IOM's Protection Division's protection monitoring and research activities, as well as reporting. IOM contributes to evidence-based protection advocacy through protection monitoring. Protection monitoring is carried out to identify the protection risks and needs of affected populations to support evidence-based programming and advocacy. Research is conducted using a mixed-method approach and feeds into advocacy with key stakeholders, including government, development actors, and donor communities. The consultant contributes to this work by supporting the production of protection monitoring reports and any other protection monitoring products and activities.

The Junior Protection Analyst also supports PxD with its donor reporting portfolio. The consultant will support theย Protection Analyst for PxD donor reports to be submitted to the Programme Support Unit (PSU) for final clearance.

Provide support to the Al-Amal Protection Monitoring work, including proofreading, copy-editing, fact-checking, and assisting with qualitative and quantitative analysis; coordinate with team members to keep products accurate and up to date.Contribute to thematic work on environmental migration, gender-based violence, disability and inclusion, migration, and protracted displacement by conducting desk research, organising literature, and assisting with data analysis for reports and briefs.Help maintain knowledge-sharing products, such as thematic notes, policy briefs, and dashboards, by compiling data, verifying consistency, and providing analysis.Support PxD donor reporting portfolio. Analyze data from field reports and monitoring tools to support comprehensive donor reports, ensuring alignment with reporting requirements; support proposals by incorporating key findings from protection monitoring activities and advocacy efforts.ย Work closely with the Programme, IMS, and M&E teams to ensure reporting inputs remain consistent, clarify indicator definitions, and support routine data management tasks.Assist with additional tasks that help the Protection Division deliver its regular monitoring, reporting, and research activities.ย Performance indicators for the evaluation of resultsย

Education, Experience and/or skills required

Masterโ€™s Degree in Forced Migration, Humanitarian Action, Human Rights, or related disciplineAt least 1 yearย experience in research, data analysis, protection monitoring, and advocacy within the humanitarian or development sector; experience designing data collection tools and methodologies.Proven track record of producing high-quality analytical and written outputs, including concise reports and publications.Familiarity with protection challenges faced by displaced populations in Iraq or similar crisis-affected contexts.Experience in donor reporting, including data analysis and report writing.Experience working effectively and independently in remote or virtual environments.Experience communicating effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including diverse audiencesLanguages Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is an advantage ย ย IOMโ€™s official languages are English, French and Spanish.Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.ย Travel required YesRequired Competenciesย IOMโ€™s competency framework can be found atย this link.
