Mission and objectivesThe United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and reports to the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board. At the country level, UNV Field Units interact with UN entities to strategically and meaningfully integrate volunteerism into the implementation and delivery of their mandates. As part of this process, UNV works with UN entities to identify opportunities where volunteers add specific and unique value to development programmes and peacekeeping missions.
ContextThis OV assignment is part of the UNV Pakistan Field Unit efforts to promote equitable access to information and opportunities, the UNV Pakistan office is undertaking the translation of essential Talent Acquisiton document from English into Sindhi. Sindhi is widely spoken across Sindh Province, and providing accurate translations will ensure that potential candidates who are more comfortable in Sindhi can fully understand the requirements, expectations, and benefits associated with volunteering or working with UNV. Note: The onboarded OV will be based remotely and will not be hosted at any duty station or field office by the United Nations.
Task DescriptionThe selected Online Volunteer will be expected to support us by ensuring the quality of the translated document from English to Sindhi shared with them. To this end, the Online volunteers will be asked to: - Check the quality of the document, translated from English to Sindhi. - Ensure the translation is concise and accurate. - Review the quality of the overall documents and ensure that document translation is accurate. The selected Online Volunteer will be provided with the document in the original language and other guidance as needed.
