ABOUT WFP

The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

The WFPโ€™s Regional Bureau based in Cairo, Egypt, provides strategic direction, technical guidance, resource mobilisation and management support to WFP in 15 operations across the Middle East, North Africa, and Easter Europe region (MENAEE): Algeria, Armenia, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Morocco, State of Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and Yemen. These country offices aim to assist roughly one-third of all of WFPโ€™s beneficiaries (approx. 30 million) in some of the most critical humanitarian emergencies of our time. RBC is also active in the โ€˜Changing Livesโ€™ side of WFPโ€™s mandate, helping national governments and local communities improve nutrition, livelihoods, school feeding, social protection, climate and disaster risk reduction, and other programs that build resilience and support developmentโ€.

PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The Regional Security Analyst (RSA) serves as the principal regional subject matter expert, championing the formulation of high-level analytical products on geopolitical and security developments, evolving scenarios, and other factors impacting WFP personnel, assets, and operations, including humanitarian access. The incumbent will assume a leading role in supporting the regional security unit (RSU) to establish itself as the definitive go-to resource, empowering decision-makers with the knowledge they need and cultivating a profound sense of relevance, credibility and reliability. The goal is to drive the efforts of the RSU towards making analysis a key strategic decision-making tool.
