Who are we?
Most of DRCโs resources to support conflict and displacement affected populations come from institutional donors such as the European Commission, UN agencies, and bilateral humanitarian and development funding envelopes from major donor countries. The DRC Germany office opened in Berlin in November 2023 and supports DRC in its fundraising, partnership, engagement and advocacy efforts with German institutional donors and other relevant stakeholders.
About the role
The student assistant will be a member of a small team in the Berlin office, collaborating with diverse and multicultural teams across the Copenhagen headquarters, the regional hubs in Amman, Nairobi and Dakar and relevant country offices. The student assistant will support the DRC Senior Partnership Advisor in maintaining close and trusted relationships with institutional donors supporting our ongoing programs, stay abreast of changes and shifts in their strategies and support with sharing this knowledge within the wider DRC network.
The tasks include but are not limited to:
Information gathering about relevant compliance rules and regulations Supporting with updating relevant knowledge sharing tools and the development of new tools Supporting with reviewing donor concept notes, proposals and reports Helping organise meetings and events between DRC colleagues and external stakeholders, as well as the development of presentations and meeting minutes Assist in day-to-day administrative and financial tasks Supporting with any other tasks related to the mandate of DRC Germany
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to be flexible, eager to learn and proactive. All employees at DRC should master DRC's core competencies: Communicating, Taking the lead, Collaborating, striving for excellence and Demonstrating integrity. The student assistant should be able to meet the following requirements:
Be proficient in the use of Office 365. Have an interest in donor relations, fundraising, donor engagement, donor compliance and/or how NGOs fund their operations. Interest in learning more about working in an international NGO. Be fluent in both written and spoken German and English. Be able to work systematically with a good structure for the tasks that you are responsible for.
It is a requirement that you are enrolled in a university to be considered for the student assistant role. Therefore, applicants should be pursuing a relevant graduate level degree, such as International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies or other related social science studies.
We offer
Contract length: 6 months with extension option depending on performance and funding availability.
Workplace: DRC Office Berlin, Mรคrkisches Ufer 34, 10179 Berlin โ with flexible home office arrangement possible.
Start date: 8 September 2025 or as soon as possible
Working hours: Approximately 20 hours per week, subject to study requirements and further dialogue. We offer flexibility when you have study obligations.
Salary: 14,32 EUR/hour
Benefits: Contribution to cover for the public transport Germany semester ticket.
