Mission and objectivesERONet is a community-based, women-centered nonprofit organization working in Northern Uganda, primarily in Lamwo and Kitgum Districts. Established in 2001 in response to the regionโs displacement and conflict, ERONet (formerly known as Agoro Community Development Association โ ACDA) has grown into a trusted local actor empowering women, girls, and marginalized rural populations. We operate in post-conflict and refugee-hosting communities, where challenges like poverty, early marriage, gender-based violence, limited access to education, and lack of infrastructure persist. Our interventions focus on education, innovation, gender equality, livelihoods, health, and human rightsโall rooted in local knowledge and community-led approaches. ERONet aimstTo empower rural and refugee-affected communitiesโespecially women and girlsโto achieve economic independence, gender equality, and social inclusion through rights-based, sustainable, and locally driven development programs.
ContextThis task supports ERONetโs participation in The Human Race 2025, a global fundraising event coordinated by our U.S.-based fiscal sponsor, HSI (Humanitarian Social Innovations). The event raises awareness and resources to support ERONetโs mission to educate, empower, and uplift rural and refugee-affected girls in Northern Ugandaโspecifically in Lamwo district. ERONet (Enabling Rural Opportunity Network) is a women-led, grassroots nonprofit working in post-conflict communities. Our work focuses on education, health, human rights, and rural innovation, especially in areas recovering from war and displacement. Task DescriptionERONet is seeking 15 enthusiastic and digitally-savvy Online Volunteers to support the promotion and outreach of our global campaign: The Human Race 2025 โ a virtual walk/run/ride event taking place from August 16โ24, 2025, in partnership with our fiscal sponsor HSI. Volunteers will play a vital role in raising visibility for ERONetโs mission to empower rural girls in crisis-prone Lamwo District, Northern Uganda, through education and STEM innovation. The Online Volunteers will be responsible for: Sharing and co-creating engaging content across social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp groups, X/Twitter, Instagram) to raise awareness about the campaign objectives and ERONetโs mission. Running targeted digital outreach efforts by identifying and recommending relevant online groups and communities (diaspora networks, youth/women forums, nonprofit circles) to promote participation. Monitoring online engagement and analyzing feedback, offering suggestions to improve outreach effectiveness throughout the campaign. Raising awareness about how people can participate in the campaign โ such as signing up for the race, donating, or spreading the word โ using clear and motivating messages. Ensuring all content and messages align with ERONetโs branding, tone, and core objectives by coordinating with content, web, and design volunteers. Contributing to the overall campaign strategy, helping with brainstorming outreach tactics, hashtags, and ways to reach new audiences effectively. All communication will take place via email and WhatsApp. Volunteers are expected to contribute 3 - 5 hours per week with flexible scheduling. Volunteers may work individually or collaborate in small teams. At the end of the assignment, each participant will receive a UNV Certificate of Appreciation, enhancing their professional visibility and eligibility for future UN opportunities.
