5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Mission and objectivesERONet is a community-based, women-centered nonprofit organization working in Northern Uganda, primarily in Lamwo and Kitgum Districts. Established in 2001 in response to the regionโ€™s displacement and conflict, ERONet (formerly known as Agoro Community Development Association โ€“ ACDA) has grown into a trusted local actor empowering women, girls, and marginalized rural populations. We operate in post-conflict and refugee-hosting communities, where challenges like poverty, early marriage, gender-based violence, limited access to education, and lack of infrastructure persist. Our interventions focus on education, innovation, gender equality, livelihoods, health, and human rightsโ€”all rooted in local knowledge and community-led approaches. ERONet aimstTo empower rural and refugee-affected communitiesโ€”especially women and girlsโ€”to achieve economic independence, gender equality, and social inclusion through rights-based, sustainable, and locally driven development programs.

ContextThis task supports ERONetโ€™s participation in The Human Race 2025, a global fundraising event coordinated by our U.S.-based fiscal sponsor, HSI (Humanitarian Social Innovations). The event raises awareness and resources to support ERONetโ€™s mission to educate, empower, and uplift rural and refugee-affected girls in Northern Ugandaโ€”specifically in Lamwo district. ERONet (Enabling Rural Opportunity Network) is a women-led, grassroots nonprofit working in post-conflict communities. Our work focuses on education, health, human rights, and rural innovation, especially in areas recovering from war and displacement. Your contribution will help extend ERONetโ€™s reach to international allies, funders, and supporters through non-paid, community-driven promotion. Monitoring online engagement and analyzing feedback, offering suggestions to improve outreach effectiveness throughout the campaign. Raising awareness about how people can participate in the campaign โ€” such as signing up for the race, donating, or spreading the word โ€” using clear and motivating messages. Ensuring all content and messages align with ERONetโ€™s branding, tone, and core objectives by coordinating with content, web, and design volunteers. Contributing to the overall campaign strategy, helping with brainstorming outreach tactics, hashtags, and ways to reach new audiences effectively. All communication will take place via email and WhatsApp. Volunteers are expected to contribute 3 - 5 hours per week with flexible scheduling. Volunteers may work individually or collaborate in small teams. At the end of the assignment, each participant will receive a UNV Certificate of Appreciation, enhancing their professional visibility and eligibility for future UN opportunities.
