Mission and objectivesMorobe Development Foundation Inc. is a leading Internationally recognised NGO based in Lae Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. It has the vision to help young people reach their full potential by utilizing their hidden talents in community development initiatives so they can realize their potential and become role model in the community. MDF was established to address a broader and more diverse range of objectives and work through the use of dance, music, and drama, MDFโs primary aim is to ensure that women participate equally in decision-making in any project undertaken, including projects related to Ending Violence against Women and promoting Human Rights to support the Government and the Sustainable Development Goals. MDF, in collaboration with Online Volunteers, engaged through the UNV's Unified Volunteer Platform (UVP), has also undertaken various scientific research studies related to the environment - forest cover loss, land use land cover change, the influence of various parameters on surface waters, and coastal shoreline turtle habitat loss. These projects included the participation of various experts and researchers from diverse fields across various countries across the globe - ranging from marine biology, biodiversity conservation, PNG community management, remote sensing, and land use policy among various others. MDF is managed by a management committee, which is made up of the Chairman, the Deputy Chairman, Secretary, the Treasurer, the Project Coordinator, Community Development Officer, and a male and female member of the foundation, and ensures that women participate equally in decision making. We at MDF assert that we have the required skill sets, knowledge, established international network, and the necessary foundational work to undertake projects successfully.
ContextMDF's objectives are aligned with the UN Sustainable Goals - to foster climate mitigation and adaptation initiatives, focusing on nature/ecosystem-based solutions. With our projects, we intend to: - Support sustainable development activities that deliver conservation outcomes and climate benefits and contribute to the economic well-being of the people of PNG including customary landowners - while lessening the dependence on activities that degrade the environment. - Increase knowledge and understanding of biodiversity and climate issues by raising public awareness, promoting environmental education, and supporting field-based research. - Build the capacity of local stakeholders to manage and implement biodiversity, climate, and economic development projects carried out in harmony with conservation objectives. - Support the countryโs efforts to meet its national, regional, and global conservation and climate commitments. Currently, we are preparing several documents/reports related to Biodiversity & Conservation projects for further submission to donor agencies, for which we need the support of Online Volunteers with experience in writing, editing and proofreading to ensure proper and concise reporting.
Task DescriptionThe selected Online Volunteers are expected to provide the following supports: - Review, edit and structure an existing proposal on biodiversity conservation in collaboration with the contact person from the Foundation. - Provide technical advice and recommendation to build a proposal before submission to the donor agency. - Research keywords to complete the proposal and to arrange references in APA format by using the automated Mendeley software available online. Specifically, Online Volunteers will be assigned with one of the following tasks: Task 1: 2 Online Volunteers will be tasked to utilize materials/documents about the projects to fill in the reports. Task 2: 2 Online Volunteers will be tasked to edit the report - double-check information (if needed), make editorial changes, check grammar, clean out formatting etc. In your application, please let us know your preference to perform task 1 or 2.
