ResponsibilitiesUnder the direct supervision of the Chief of Central Infrastructure Unit, the incumbent may be responsible for the following duties: 1. Information Security Assistance: - Assists in the administration of perimetral firewall and security appliances. - Assists in the regular assessments of the entity's infrastructure to identify potential vulnerabilities, prioritizing and categorizing the risks, and developing implementation plans to remediate or mitigate them. - Assist with the implementation of the cyber security defence mechanisms initiated by the Organisation. - Assist with management and monitoring of ICT assets for performance to ensure effective security measures are in place. - Keep abreast of the current and emerging security issues, risks, threats, vulnerabilities, and advancements in cyber security techniques and technologies. - Assists in the coordinated incident response, digital forensics, and authorised investigation efforts through close collaboration with internal business units and external partners. 2. Network Administration Assistance: - Assists in routine installation, configuration, testing and deployment of server hardware and software, including Local Area Network, Operating Systems, Linux, firewall, Domain Name Server (DNS), DHCP, mail relay, and various security software. - Coordinates with leased line carrier and/or remote site technical support staff, service restoration during facility failures at Headquarters, the Offices Away from Headquarters, and/or Missions. - Assists in the implementation of ad-hoc LAN support requirements with departmental focal points. - Maintains digital certificates updated and performs the required task to renewal. - Prepares and revises network diagrams and network documentation. - Maintains liaison with outside contractor telecommunications representatives with regard to any change, correction or discrepancy on the above and other technical information on procedures; oversees installations, monitors quality and quantity of work performed by contractors and compiles and prepares statistics on same. - Contribute to defining network policies and procedures, establishing connections and firewalls. 3. Ensure operational continuity of central infrastructure: - Monitors the performance of the LAN, Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) and high-speed Internet access facilities. - Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. - Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. - Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. - Performs other related duties as required. EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent is required. Job - Specific QualificationStudies in the ICT field related to telecommunication equipment is required. Work ExperienceAt least three years of experience in telecommunications or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to one (1) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
