Result of ServiceThe consultant will contribute to enhancing TrainForTrade's implementation of activities and to strengthen different means of activities and communication to reach out to more stakeholders and partners involved in ports, e-commerce and digital economy related activities. Work LocationGeneva Expected duration06.10.25-19.12.25 Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Chief of the Human Resource Development (HRD) Section/TrainForTrade and the direct supervision of the Programme Management Officer, the incumbent will perform tasks related to the above-mentioned three major areas: 1. Regarding the Development Account 14 - 2225F: TrainForTrade blended learning strategy to boost the digital economy in SIDS of Africa, the Caribbean and Asia and the Pacificโ€: a) Planning and preparing for the TrainForTrade conference for SIDS in Singapore scheduled for 5-7 November 2025 by coordinating with UN stakeholders (UNDP Malaysia, UNCITRAL, UNDESA), liaising with experts and participants regarding panels and presentations. b) Prepare and distribute conference documents. c) Moderate the discussion during the conference. d) Prepare the technical notes on E-Commerce as part of the DA14 project. e) Liaise with the evaluator to facilitate the collection of data and the contact with stakeholder of the project. 2. Regarding the Port Management Programme: a) Liaise with local instructors and focal points to organize the agendas and coordinate the training activities in Cameroon, Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinea, Ghana, Haiti, Kenya, Malaysia, the Maldives, Mauritania, Namibia, Nigeria, the Philippines, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo and Tunisia, and draft final report of activities. b) Participate in the final dissertation juries of the course on Modern Port Management in Cameroon (Douala & Kribi) and Gabon. Launch the new cycles of the course on Modern Port Management in Cameroon (Douala & Kribi) and Gabon. c) Moderate the panel discussion of the UNCTAD XVI Port Management parallel event and collaborating with stakeholders and preparing conference documents. 3. Regarding the delivery of the distance learning course on Statistics on International Trade in Services in 2025 (in English and French): a) Contribute to the delivery of the course by maintaining and updating the course training material on the distance learning platform, moderating the technical forum and verifying accessibility to all training packages. b) Coordinate with experts and participants the agendas of the final webinars and prepare the webinars through test sessions with participants and creation of the online presentations. c) Participate in hosting the closing webinars as moderator and draft the final reports of these courses. Additionally, the consultant will also produce articles and other content for UNCTADโ€™s and TrainForTradeโ€™s communication, following UN gender inclusive language.(https://www.un.org/en/gender-inclusive-language/guidelines.shtml) and promote stakeholdersโ€™ engagement and buy-in through the effective use of communication instruments. Qualifications/special skillsMasterโ€™s degree in Business, Economics, International Relations, Public Policy or related field, is required. Certification/Basic Safety training for vessels is required. At least 7 years of working experience in maritime sector working with port authorities, private entities and project management related to shipping, are required. Work experience in planning and organizing activities and events is required. Working experience with SIDS, Africa and Asia countries is an advantage. Work experience with TrainForTrade's methodology is an advantage. LanguagesFluency in written and spoken English and French is required. Additional InformationNot available.
