The UNV Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist oversees the monitoring and evaluation activities of the country office as well as monitoring and evaluation consultants, advisors, and experts and establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with counterpart in government, multi-lateral and bilateral donor agencies and civil society to address emerging issues. S/he must effectively influence counterparts from different backgrounds to contribute to achieving UNFPA’s mandate. ContextThe Arbaeen pilgrimage is one of the largest annual mass gatherings in the world, drawing millions of people from Iraq, Iran, and the wider region. In 2025, UNFPA, in collaboration with UNDP and WHO, is scaling up its outreach efforts to disseminate life-saving messages on climate resilience, health, and food safety during this major event. To ensure these messages reach diverse communities effectively, UNFPA is seeking dedicated Online Volunteers to help translate campaign materials into Kurdish (Sorani) and Persian (Farsi). These translations will enable wider access to essential health and climate-related content across the region. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a real-world impact while gaining experience in multilingual communication for development and receiving a certificate of appreciation for your efforts.
Task DescriptionWe are looking for four skilled Online Volunteers to support the 2025 Arbaeen Campaign by translating visibility materials from English into either Kurdish (Sorani) or Persian (Farsi). Each volunteer will be responsible for: Translating approximately 10–12 short texts (infographics, leaflets, short video subtitles, and social media posts) from English into Kurdish or Persian. Ensuring cultural sensitivity, correct spelling, grammar, and tone appropriate for a public health campaign. Coordinating with the UNFPA Iraq communications team for clarifications and feedback. Delivering translated content progressively over a period of 2–3 weeks, aligned with the campaign schedule. All materials and support will be provided in advance, including glossaries and sample translations. Deliverables ~10–12 translated campaign texts (infographics, social media captions, subtitles) Revisions based on feedback from the UNFPA communications focal point Final versions submitted in editable Word or Google Doc formats
