Work LocationRemote Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe position is located in the Department of Global Communications (DGC) in the Campaigns and Country Operations Division. The Campaigns and Country Operations Division develops and implements strategies for communicating UN messages on priority issues. The consultant will work in DGC's Climate Section, which works to mobilize action on climate change by communicating the science and solutions, advocating for stronger action by governments and other actors, and encouraging individual action on climate change. The Section works closely with the Secretary-Generalโs Climate Action Team, in support of his policy objectives, and chairs the DGC Climate Lab and the climate task force of the UN Communications Group. The consultant will report to the Chief of the Climate Section. Within delegated authority, the consultant will be responsible for the following duties: โข Design, implement and maintain the climate action and peace and security campaign websites, working together with Project Managers, UN Web Services and the digital campaigns unit. โข Advise on organization, structure and layout of the websites, keeping in mind multilingualism (language pages will be handled in-house) and Drupal migration process. โข Upload content on the English versions of the websites, including text, images and multimedia content. โข Create new webpages, as necessary, and present layout options for new content. โข Keep track of updates in English, for language units to replicate. โข Take on additional assignments, including research and drafting for the website, as required by the Project Managers. Qualifications/special skillsMinimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in web design or web development is required. First-level university degree is required. Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Experience working on UN websites or websites of other international organizations is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is desirable. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
