Purpose of Job

The Associate, Technical Architect is responsible for realising the architectural vision for the technology and business units by designing and implementing technical solutions that address business or technology challenges.

The Associate works within one or more squad or practice teams, supporting the selection, design and implementation of technology solutions. Often hands-on, the Associate collaborates as part of an integrated team of Engineers, Product Owners and Technical Business Analysts.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

โ€ข Responsible for the support, integration and development of the Enterprise Architecture Modelling Tools which may include ArchiMate, SparX Systems Enterprise Architect, or Ardoq.
โ€ข Responsible for the effective operation and maintenance of data, models and visualisations to support the Architecture function.
โ€ข Supports the creation and enables the Architecture practice to create business process mapping and modelling using tools such as BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation).
โ€ข Responsible for aligning the Enterprise Architecture tooling to TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) and the principles, processes, and best practices.
โ€ข Responsible for inputting, maintaining and developing data modelling, ensuring the logical and physical structure supports business needs.
โ€ข Responsible for maintaining collaborative tools for document sharing, version control, and team communication (e.g., Confluence, Jira, Git).
โ€ข Responsible for creating, supporting and tracking of architecture-related team tasks and deliverables including creation of agenda and meeting minutes for Technology Steering Committee.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

โ€ข Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly, both in written and verbal formats, particularly when engaging with stakeholders.
โ€ข Experience in capturing technical requirements and documenting them in written and pictorial (e.g. PowerPoint, Visio).
โ€ข Experience in engaging with business and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure alignment between architecture and business goals.
โ€ข Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.
โ€ข Experience working within Agile, DevOps, and product-aligned teams, contributing to sprint-based and continuous delivery.
โ€ข Demonstrable experience working within TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) with deep understanding of its application.

โ€ข In depth technical experience with Modelling Tools such as:
o UML (Unified Modelling Language).
o BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation).
โ€ข Workshops, Bootcamps, or Courses in Enterprise Architecture Tools (e.g., ArchiMate, SparX Systems Enterprise Architect).
โ€ข Demonstrable experience with either TOGAF 9/10 (The Open Group Architecture Framework) or Zachman Framework for Enterprise Architecture.
โ€ข ITIL Foundation or Practitioner (for understanding service management and IT governance) or equivalent experience.
โ€ข Demonstratable mindset for organising and visualising data.
โ€ข A minimum of 2 years experience in an IT Architecture practice.
