Background
The UNV Field Unit is mainly accountable for the mobilization and placement of UN Volunteers in UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes in Colombia, focused on peace, development and humanitarian needs. The UNV Field Unit represents and positions UNV in the country and brings UNVโs services and solutions closer to its partners from governments, UN entities, civil society and private sector.ย ย
Duties and Responsibilities
Support Advocacy, Partnership Building and Promotion of Volunteerismย ย
Support the Programme Specialist in maintaining and strengthening relationships with UN partners in the country to ensure an understanding of UNVโs mandates, UNVโs offers and the added values that UN Volunteer assignments bring in support to the achievement of their respective mandates. This includes positioning UNV as a go-to partner for promoting diversity, inclusion, innovation, and efficiency within the United Nations System's operations;ย Contribute to maintaining business intelligence on UN agencies, UN joint programmes, identifying specific entry points to diversify partnerships with the aim of increased volunteer assignments and UN partner diversification;ย ย Identify volunteer placement opportunities and present UNV value proposition and volunteer categories with the objective of maximizing international and national volunteer presence, including collaboration in the preparation of descriptions of assignments, with UN entities and other partners;ย Support the Programme Specialist in identifying and establishing relationships with potential UN clients, and engage with local development actors to strengthen partnerships and enhance programme outcomes;ย Monitor and track FU performance indicators, success metrics and targets, including assisting in the preparation of performance reports aligned with corporate results-based management systems;ย Support data, evidence, best practices collection on UNV programme and UNV Strategic Framework outcomes for use in partnership meetings and external presentations;ย Support the design and preparation of UNVโs offer and mobilization proposals for Special Initiatives and/or joint UN programmes;ย Support the Programme Specialist in establishing, fostering and maintaining effective outreach and relationships with local civil society organizations, prioritizing those focused on volunteerism, to contribute to community-led sustainable development in the country; ย Assist in identifying programme-related challenges and recommend solutions to enhance operational efficiency;ย Temporarily assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of Programme Analyst, UNV FU, ensuring continuity of operations and team support;ย Support in the planning and coordination of activities and events, in collaboration with other UN agencies, for annual, national and UN-recognized international celebrations, including the International Volunteer Day (IVD);ย Encourage and monitor serving UN Volunteers to embrace the ideals of volunteerism, act as advocates for volunteer action, and document their experiences in promoting volunteerism.ยUN Volunteer Mobilization and Managementย
Support the overall recruitment process of UN Volunteers and efficient volunteer management, bringing critical issues timely to the attention of the Programme Specialist, UNV Field Unit, and relevant sections in the RO;ย ย Liaise with Host Entities to determine areas of support for enhancing the Volunteer experience, including guidance for supervisors, tailoring training needs (CDLFs) and ensure that incoming and outgoing UN Volunteers are adequately briefed, onboarded and debriefed, and extend timely support and guidance to UN Volunteers in the country;ย Ensure comprehensive maintenance of records for all UN Volunteers assigned to the country, systematically organizing and updating files to include relevant correspondence and periodic reports in the UNV platform;ย Monitor and maintain records of the contractual status of serving UN Volunteers in the country, flagging any required follow-up actions to the Volunteer Services Centre (VSC);ย Assist on the logistical and travel arrangements of arriving UN Volunteers and his/her recognized dependents;ย Ensure the fulfillment of all required conditions prior to the disbursement of final entitlements to UN Volunteers upon the completion of their assignments;ย Ensure overall management and administrative support to UN Volunteers.ย Ensure knowledge is documented, systematized and fed back into volunteer mobilization and evidence building on volunteerism for the SDGs, and actively contribute to knowledge networks, communities of practice, and digital knowledge platforms;ย Act as a peer-support resource for other Programme Associates in the region as needed, facilitating the exchange of relevant information, best practices and lessons learned aimed at fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment that contributes to the success of the region.ยKnowledge Building and Knowledge Sharingย ย ย

Reporting to the Programme Specialist, UNV Field Unit, the Programme Associate, Mobilization and Partnerships plays a crucial role in the effective mobilization of UN Volunteers by providing comprehensive administrative and operational assistance, alongside supporting strategic advocacy and programmatic coordination to strengthen partnerships. She/he is integral to increasing volunteer engagement, in line with UNVโs Strategic Framework, ensuring responsiveness to the evolving demand of UN partners in the country.ย ย
The Programme Associate, Mobilization and Partnerships is also responsible for providing support to actively build and nurture relationships with UN entities, UN Volunteers, and other key stakeholders to enhance UNV impact for the UN System. Additionally, she/he contributes to the implementation of Special Programme Initiatives, fostering the development of synergies and strategic relationships, and collaborating with local stakeholders to enhance joint advocacy and visibility efforts.ย

Education:
Secondary education with technical training in administration, business administration, communications or related areas is required.ย University degree in social sciences, business, communications, or related areas is desirable but is not a requirement.ยExperience:
A minimum of 6 years (with high school diploma) or 3 years (with bachelorโs degree) of relevant progressively responsible administrative/management or programme experience is required.ย ย Experience in the use of computers, office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.), database packages, and web-based management systems such as ERP.Desired skills:
